If you work in the industrial area, you have certainly been warned about the care you need when performing or managing activities within certain facilities. Confined spaces are very common environments within the industrial sites and due to specific characteristics, they require great care from all workers who interact directly or indirectly with these places.
In Brazil, both Standard NBR 16577 (Confined Space – Accident Prevention, procedures and protective measures) and the Norma Reguladora NR-33 (Safety and health in confined space work) deal with this issue. These standards establish the legal requirements to identify, characterize and recognize confined spaces, as well as implement a management system in order to permanently guarantee the safety and health of the worker that directly or indirectly interact with these spaces during the execution their tasks.
